We pride ourselves in the fact that our changing towels are 100% South African. Our cotton is grown in Mpumalanga, spun into yarn, woven into fabric and then handmade in Cape Town by the Mahina team. The origin of fabric is very important to us as we believe that supporting our local country and economy is the right thing to do. Our 100% cotton fabric is a natural fibre, this means that our environmental impact will be much less than a synthetic fibre. Man-made synthetic fibre are treated with a lot of chemicals, this causes the fabric to not be breathable for the skin. We love that your skin will be able to breath through our 100% cotton towelies and this is a value we prioritize.
All cutting and sewing is carefully made by hand in close relations with our Mahina team. This ensures that we have control of safe and fair labor. Our fabric waste and scraps are recycled or up-cycled into stuffing pillows, floor cushions and bean bags or they are donated for other recycled projects.
